It has been a while since I discussed iEntry/WebProNews‘ quality directory of Twitter users, so I thought I would give you an update of what has been happening and added since my last report.

If you do not know what I am referring to, Twellow is a free, B2B-oriented Twitter directory that organizes its users by common interest/niche. This service also has a feature named TwellowHood where users can search for people near where they live with aid of a visual map.

Here are some features that have recently been integrated into Twellow:

• Searchable Categories – Whenever you search for people using a topic (e.g. SEO), Twellow will also suggest categories relating to your search query under the Possible Category Matches section on the right-hand side of the user search results. • Extended Profile Formatting – Now, when you edit your extended profile in Twellow, you may use a series of HTML tags to help format the look and presentation of your extended bio on your profile. This is a great benefit if you want to link to an external site from your profile, as well as accentuating certain words or areas of your bio. You can always modify your profile by clicking on the Profile Editor tab that is located on the top right-hand side of our site or by going to http://www.twellow.com/edit in the Location bar your browser.

Just recently, previous WebProNews eBusiness Directory editor Chris Crum wrote an article on this directory’s parent site (WebProNews) about submitting your software to directories (with the aid of a Q&A session with Google’s SEO guru Matt Cutts). One of the main premises of the article was centered around a question from a person who asked Cutts: “We sell a software product, and there are 100s of software download directories on the web of varying quality. We have had tons of submissions sent to the WebProNews eBusiness Directory as of late, so I thought I would take this opportunity to share some tips on patterns that I have seen with some of these recent submissions to help better your inclusion and appearance in our directory’s listings.

• Revise URL Before Submit – I have seen a few submissions recently where the URL of the site submitted has been misspelled or the domain suffix (e.g. .com, .net, etc.) was not included. For the best matching of your site URL with the site description of your business, please make sure that the URL that you submit to us is correctly entered in the ‘URL’ field of our directory’s submission form and contains everything needed to reach your business’ website.

  

• Is Your Site Live? – There has been a pattern of submissions lately where the URL submitted was either a landing page for the site’s domain or the page has an “Under Construction” message in place of their business’ website. From a business standpoint, if a user is browsing our directory looking for your business’ product, and your site reports that it is under construction and cannot find your product anywhere, most likely that person will move on to your competitor’s site and find what he or she needs there. This is why it is crucial to have your site up-and-running during the time of submission so users can benefit from your site and its products.
• Has Your Site Changed? – If your site has been listed within our directory for a long time, most likely your site listing will need updating since the demographic, products, and design of your site may have changed. If you would like the title and/or description of your site listing changed, I would be glad to help you with the procss.
