TwellowHood Adds UK and NZ!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Back in August, I published a blog post announcing that TwellowHood had added Australia to its map, and for this update, I would like to announce that the United Kingdom and New Zealand have now launched within this great Twitter search tool!

If you are unfamiliar with TwellowHood, it is an extension of Twellow (the Twitter user directory owned by the iEntry Network), which lets you browse different regions of the world to help find users that are close to you.

Both of these regions that have been added (United Kingdom, and New Zealand) are great sources of traffic for Twellow, so we thought we would add these countries to make our directory more suited for their demographics. I have provided links to their respective regions below:

Find People That Matter Better With Twellow!

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Have you been to Twellow recently? If so, you would have noticed that a new tab has been added under its banner. This new feature is called Suggested Users and was launched last week to help you find people that matter according to your interests, just like TwellowHood helps you find people that matter according to your region.

If you are unsure of what service this is that I am talking about, Twellow is a Twitter user directory that is owned by the iEntry Network, which also owns WebProNews.

The new Suggested Users feature is available to all registered Twellow users, and it also provides results of users that share the same common categories that you have listed in your Twellow Profile. To see a comprehensive list list of all of the available categories, check out Twellow’s “All Categories” Page.

The various qualities and benefits of this new feature have been provided below:

Category Spotlight: Social Networks

Monday, July 27th, 2009

I thought it would be appropriate that since we are now living in an age of social networking, that I would bring our directory’s category of social networks to your attention.

Social networking, along with social media, are becoming such an integral, powerful, and useful tool in the world of online business today. These methods are a great way to interact with customers, along with promoting new products and ideas from your company. Even though sites like Facebook and Twitter dominate the social networking world, there are actually other social networks out there to help boost the visibility of your business online and to keep up with user/customer relations.

With this in mind, the WebProNews eBusiness Directory has comprehensive listings of these user-submitted social networks within our Social Networks category that is located under our Social Media category, which can be found on our directory’s front page.

If you have a social network that you would like to see visible in our social networking listings, please feel free to submit its URL via our quick-and-easy submission form. Inclusion of your social network into our directory is free of charge with thanks to advertising, and once your social networking site has become live in our directory, you will recieve a prompt notification of its location.

Do you have any comments/suggestions/inquries regarding our social networking category or any of our other categories on our quality directory? Please contact me via our contact form and I will gladly take attention to any questions that you may have.

Happy Surfing! :)

WebProNews Directory Submission Tips

Monday, April 27th, 2009

This past week, the WebProNews eBusiness Directory was mentioned in two different newsletters. One of these newsletters was Jayde Listing Notes, a publication that is sent out by iEntry’s well-known B2B search engine Jayde.com, and also Directory Listing Notes, a publication that is sent out to all iEntry directory participants. So, you could say that our directory has had some excellent exposure.

Along with the various submissions that have been submitted lately, I have been noticing a trend of erroneous submissions, so I thought I would share some tips that would better your inclusion in our quality directory.

  • Be eBusiness Specific – Try and keep your submissions as close to our directory’s categories as possible. I have been seeing some submissions about jewelry and fashion stores, and unfortunately our directory does not have any related categories specific to that niche and have to reject them. Please submit sites relating to eBusiness content or anything that is talked about on our parent site WebProNews. If your site is eBusiness related, and you do not see a category in our directory that would best fit your website, please feel free to contact me with your business’ category suggestion.
  • Your Site is Live – I have been seeing submissions where the website is either under construction or a landing page. With this in mind, I am unable to successfully pinpoint the product and/or company that you want to advertise. This will also be frustrating to people browsing our directory and want to view your company and can find nothing there. This helps keep the WebProNews eBusiness Directory filled with quality site listings.
  • No Shortened URLs – There have been several URLs submitted lately that have been shortened with a random URL generator, such as TinyURL.com or Bit.Ly that redirects the person viewing the website to a longer URL. From an SEO standpoint, this will not help the visiblity of your website in search engines and directories because of the hidden and permanent redirect; therefore, I am unable to accept these URLs. These types of URLs also do not look attractive in directory listings because the URL does not fully describe the company or the product advertised.
  • Meta Description Tags – A while back, I mentioned the use of meta tags prior to the submission of your site to our directory. This helps me compile the description of your listing to help better describe your site within our directory.

If you have any questions regarding your directory listing, please feel free to contact me via our directory’s contact form, or if you have account on the iEntry Directory Portal Forum, I can be contacted there as well.

Happy Submitting! :)
