Don’t Worry, I’m Still Here.

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

When this blog was started, I intended to write on it about every day, but latley I have been spending more time writing for WebProNews in addition to my SmallBusinessNewz articles.  So if anyone is looking for daily posts here, please accept my apologies, but there are only so many hours in the day.

I have not been ignoring the eBusiness Directory, so you needn’t worry about that. People have contacted me regarding issues with their listings, and I have been happy to assist in as timely a fashion as I can.  I am also still approving submissions every day, so don’t worry about that either.

If you just want to read some of my writing, you can catch me at WebProNews.com and SmallBusinessNewz.com.

VoIP, a Good Directory Category

Monday, August 25th, 2008

VoIP is a good candidate for a future category in the eBusiness Directory. Don’t be surprised to see it in the near future, although I can’t say exactly when, but if you have VoIP resources please feel free to submit them to XYZ, and they can be sorted out later. Or if you prefer, just submit them when the category comes to fruition.

The idea for this was sparked by a VoIP”directory” that was launched today by whichvoip.com. Their VoIP directory is less than impressive at this stage, though it just started, so judgment may be a little premature.

“Whether a user requires residential or business services, the WhichVoIP Directory provides a single resource to aid users in finding the perfect solution to match their VoIP needs,” says the press release.

When our VoIP category launches, it will feature more than the 19 listings currently populating the above directory. Hopefully this one will be expanding as well.

New Version of Apache Directory Studio

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

I ran across this item in the news today. It may be of interest to some of you directory developers out there.

The Apache Foundation has released version 1.2.0 of their open source Apache Directory Studio. According to Heise Online:

A major new feature of Directory Studio is the ability to run Apache DS from within Directory Studio or Eclipse, making it “super easy (and fast) to create and run an LDAP server” according to the announcement. The configuration editor has been updated to support read/write modification of the Apache DS server.xml file on Apache DS 1.5.0, 1.5.1, 1.5.2 and 1.5.3.

Not much new to report on the eBusiness Directory front.  Keep the submissions coming!

Catch More of Me on WPN!

Monday, August 18th, 2008

All of you out there enjoying my timeless words on a regular basis can catch even more of them on WebProNews (and still SmallBusinessNewz of course).

I have been writing for WPN for years, but not a consistent basis. For the time being, I’ll be on there pretty regularly now.

As far as the directory is concerned, I’ll still be plugging away on those submission approvals as well, so let it commence.
