In With The New

Friday, July 18th, 2008

You can’t say he didn’t warn you.  Chris is away, now – his paternity leave has started – and it’s liable to be some time before we hear from him again.  We’d like to extend our best wishes to Chris and his wife as they participate in all sorts of miracle-of-life stuff.

Meanwhile, what seems like a small army of people will be trying to keep up with Chris’s duties around the office.  Starting next week, we’ll resume feeding you directory-related info, and should any baby news spread, we’ll see about passing that along, too.

Have a nice weekend, folks.

A Directory of Directories (With User Ratings)

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Again, still no baby…

I came across this interesting site today. DirectoryRate is kind of a directory of directories, so all you directory-heads should love it.

It’s more than that though. It has user ratings of all the directories which are broken down into categories in which they excel and fail.

Here is a sample of the kind of information you will see by clicking on an individual listing:

You will not find the eBusiness Directory in there just yet. I have only just submitted it, but I am interested to see what kind of feedback we get on it.

Looking to Submit to a Paid Directory?

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

No baby yet, so here’s another post before I’m gone.

All of you looking to submit to directories for search engine ranking purposes might want to check this out.

This is especially true if you are looking to submit to paid ones. This post over at AvivaDirectory.com takes a look at a tool from SEOMoz and applies it to a heaping list of paid directories that might help you make a more educated decision before you go throwing money away on link submissions.

Our directory as I’ve said over and over again is not so much about helping out your rankings as it is providing a useful resource for those actually looking for information, but remember that it is FREE to submit to!

I’ll Be Back, Bennett!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

There’s a good chance that my wife and I will be having a baby this week, and that means I will be M.I.A. for a little while, so wanted to let everyone know before it goes down.

There should still be some posting here on the blog while I’m away, so don’t let my absence stop you from checking back.

I know it’s hard to wrap your mind around not being able to read my words for a little bit, but the human race has endured tougher times, so don’t fret. I’ll be back like John Matrix (yes, he said it too).

In the meantime, keep those submissions coming. Someone will be filling in for me on approval, so they won’t sit in limbo for too long.
